Cannon auto repair

Keeping up with routine transmission service can prolong, if not put off altogether, a serious and costly transmission repair.  Transmission service, which is much easier and simpler to perform than a major transmission repair, is much less costly.  Vehicle owners, lay your transmission repair worries aside and simply follow the regular transmission service schedule listed in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.

For easy reference, we have included below a brief description of what vehicle owners can expect during a transmission service versus a transmission repair:

Transmission Service includes:

  • Fluid change – The old fluid is drained and refilled with new.  A “flush” may be performed to remove all contaminants.
  • Filter change – The old filter is removed and replaced with a new one. If the pan is removed to change the filter, the seals are typically replaced as well.
  • Codes and electronics check – A computer flash of the transmission is sometimes conducted to delete any out-of-date error codes and driving history memory.  This aids the transmission in re-learning the individual drivers driving and shifting preferences.

Transmission Repair includes:

  • Faulty sensors replacement – These give inaccurate information to the transmission which causes irregular or faulty shifting or performance.
  • Unit removal and disassembly – This is very labor-intensive and disables the vehicle for a lengthy period of time. Each component is inspected, cleaned, and replaced if necessary (especially if it is outdated).
  • Electrical system check – All electrical components are checked, required repairs made and faulty parts replaced.
  • Rebuilt or remanufactured unit – If more serious repairs are needed, the next level of repair is a transmission rebuild or a remanufactured unit installed.

Maintaining your vehicle’s transmission can be as worry-free as have regular transmission service.
