Cannon auto repair

Because of busy schedules or tight budgets, many vehicle owners may put off having required maintenance service performed or a minor car repair taken care of. As long as their car gets them from point A to point B, they think everything is okay and that by extending a required service interval they are saving money. The truth is however, they will probably spend more money on an emergency car repair than the cost the maintenance service would have been.

Just like people go to their doctor for an annual checkup to make sure they remain as healthy as possible, the same principle applies to your car if you want it to keep it running for very long. Manufacturers publish a service schedule for a very good reason--to make sure that your vehicle continues to operate reliably and safely. This service schedule (read your vehicle owner’s manual) lists the mileage or time interval for each service, as well as what should be included in the service.

Ask your mechanic to explain in more detail what these three levels of car service should include:

  • What does Basic Car Service include? Basic service typically includes an oil and filter change and a visual inspection of the components of your vehicle. Fluids (such as washer fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze, and steering fluid) will typically be topped-off. Also, key components (over 35 of them) of your car should be inspected, including brakes, tires, shocks, transmission, etc., so that any necessary car repair can be taken care of before it becomes a major issue.
  • What does Full Car Service include? A full service typically consists of all the basic service work listed above plus an additional 15-30 checks on other components of your vehicle (compared to the basic service), plus any necessary car repair performed.
  • What does Major Car Service Include? Major service is the most comprehensive service available. It includes everything covered in the basic and full service above plus an inspection of all the components and operating systems of your vehicle as recommended by the manufacturer.

Remember: Regular car service is crucial for keeping your car safe and roadworthy, protecting yourself and other drivers.
